First class pre-school.
Some ask, "Why is Faith Christian's cost for pre-school so much less than local daycare centers?" Answer: FCA is a non-profit organization which is not allowed to have owners or investors and we cannot pay dividends or profits to anyone. As a non-profit organization, we charge only enough to adequately meet our expenses and run an excellent program. Thus, you save on pre-school without any sacrifice in quality, security, academics, or convenience. We meet all the requirements of both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) - both agencies are recognized by the State of Alabama AND the U.S. Department of Education.
K5 is an advanced kindergarten program designed to prepare your child for success in first grade. In addition to the strong phonics-based reading program, we add numbers, language, social studies, science, music, art and a lot of fun! All programs include Bible study and Christian values.
A great kindergarten experience for your child begins with a great teacher. FCA chooses qualified teachers who pass careful background screening. Kindergarten at Faith Christian Academy is a wonderful blend of learning and fun. It is the learning that sets our kindergarten apart from ordinary play school or day care environments. While our kindergarten students have a great deal of fun each day, they also develop the skills that are necessary to truly excel in first grade.
Kindergarten students, for example, develop intensive skills in phonics which prepares them to read. Most of our students will be reading by the end of their K-4 year at FCA. By the end of K-5, standardized tests show many FCA students reading on a first or even second grade level. Our phonics approach to reading develops exceptional reading skills while emphasizing the fun and enjoyment of reading.
Kindergarten students also learn other valuable skills. Your child will learn to count, write numbers, and recognize each number by sight. Starting in K-3, students also learn language skills, using the clock and calendar, writing, art, music, and Bible study. Five year-olds begin to study history and science as well.
Of course, fun is a critical part of learning for the kindergarten student! That's why our students enjoy a well-equipped playground, story time, show-and-tell, music, off-campus field trips, and many other exciting activities.
